Lab work translates into an art Project

An article in Corriere della Sera highlighting the paper that Rodrigo and Jordi published on language extinction and the loss of medicinal services (see here) caught the attention of Italian visual artist Lucia Veronesi, who decided to translate that story in an artistic format based on a tapestry, collages, and a video, to be exhibited in Venice.

Since Lucia first contacted us, it has been lots of fun working with her on this project which illustrates beautifully the relationships between art and science. As part of that collaboration, The Extinct Desinence is a project by Lucia developed in London, Trondheim and Zurich, which will be featured on the 16th of May in the headquarters of Awareness in Art at Zurich see link here.

The Extinct Desinence is a project curated and produced by Ramdom (Italy). It is realised in collaboration with the National Museum of Decorative Arts and Design (Trondheim, Norway); with the support of the University of Zurich - Department of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany and Department of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies (Zurich, Switzerland); Goldsmiths University (London, UK); Italian Cultural Institute, Oslo; and Ca' Pesaro - Galleria Internazionale d’Arte Moderna (Venice, Italy) – the museum of destination of the work. Awareness in Art is an organization whose mission is to produce awareness. As it can be read in thei web page, they understand art as a vehicle that bridges perception, feelings, knowledge, and cognition to follow the ambitious target to develop strategies for our all future. The project will start with a brief presentation by Rodrigo and Jordi, a presentation by Lucia and the screening of a video.
